Garden Club Projects
The Garden Club has worked directly with the City of Knoxville, Knox County and TDOT to incorporate landscape areas in the expanded portion of Alcoa Hwy between Woodson Dr. and Maloney Rd. Three roundabouts, new trees and wildflower gardens have been planned for the area. Installation of these plantings is scheduled for Fall 2021 at the completion of the road construction.
Bluff Point Park
The public property located between the east and west lanes of Bluff Point Dr. had become unsightly and needed some care. The club, working with Bluff Point residents, have removed decaying trees, leveled the grade while improving the soil, revitalized the lawn area, added new dogwood trees and a flower garden with sculpture. The club and residents partner to maintain the property.
This property, owned by Knox County Highway Department, was an unsightly sinkhole. It now is a designated garden on the Dogwood Trail and a quiet retreat for many in the neighborhood. It continues to be developed with native plants and is designated as a Certified Wildlife Habitat. Learn More!
