About

Lakemoor Hills or Lake Hills is sometimes referred to as “South Sequoyah” due to its location across the river from Sequoyah Hills. And with over 450 homes, many with lake frontage, lake views, or ample acreage, Lakemoor Hills, like Sequoyah Hills, is a mighty fine place to call home.

Most of the homes in the neighborhood were built in the 60s and 70s and home styles include ranchers as well as many contemporary multi-levels, including some Barber McMurray designed homes. There are also some newer construction homes, most notably on lots with river frontage. While there are some smaller sized homes in the neighborhood, homes in Lakemoor Hills tend to be on the mid to large side and there is little homeowner turnover.

Location wise, Lakemoor Hills is convenient to lots of different areas. A short drive north on Alcoa Highway gets you to downtown, UT campus, UT Hospital and I-40, while a short trip south gets you to Tyson McGhee airport, I-140 and the city of Alcoa.

What Lakemoor Hills residents gain in scenery and lake frontage, we unfortunately have to sacrifice in convenient shopping and eating locales. There are several small convenience stores and a CVS nearby on Alcoa Highway and several chain restaurants down by the airport, but for any specialty shopping or fine dining, residents will most likely have to head to downtown or west Knoxville. That said, these are only a few minutes drive away!

Due to the wonderful, heavily treed areas, the temperature drops several degrees in the summer when entering this neighborhood. The nearby Lake Hills Presbyterian Church offers a walking trail and basketball and tennis courts  available to anyone in the neighborhood. There is a neighborhood park, Maloney Park (previously Maxey’s boat dock), on the lake with a boat ramp, playground, picnic pavilion, and a walking trail. The pocket park established in 2017 on Circle Lake, Lakemoor Legacy Park and Garden, is a certified wildlife habitat and is a rain garden demonstration project. Additionally, in 2020,the greenway will be constructed/expanded to connect Maloney Rd. Park to I.C. King Park crossing the UT Farms property allowing Lakemoor Hills residents to walk or bike to two county parks.

We have a very active volunteer homeowners association – Lakemoor Hills Homeowners Association – that is open to property owners, residents and renters, that maintains a communication network, holds special events, offers discounts for waste management and ties the community together.

Lakemoor Hills is currently zoned for Mount Olive Elementary School, South Doyle Middle School, and South Doyle High School.
