Appreciation Award for Natural Beauty
Every year, during what I call our “fifth season…Dogwood Trail Season”, three homes are awarded the . The following are the three winners picked by our secret panel of judges (random order):
We start with 2524 Craighead Lane. Located at the Montlake entrance to our neighborhood, this classic Lakemoor Hills home and property sets the spirit of our neighborhood. Eye popping dogwoods along with other trees and foliage wonderfully positioned creating a woodsy but lived in feel. Special Note – they have also recently added new plantings, also strategically placed to further increase the foliage. A wonderful lesson to all of us to keep planting.
Now we work our way up Timberlake Dr., without falling into the sinkhole, to 3404 Timberlake Dr. A cute and warm 1949 home, on a hillside overlooking the smoky mountains, passed down through a family who cares about this neighborhood, with amazing gardens and woods…OK what says Lakemoor Hills better than that! The property has a dynamic blend of woodlands, groomed gardens and seating area with running water for relaxing and bird watching. Lighting up the front of the property are mature screaming bright azaleas (some moved from other family homes) under a canopy of dogwoods. Smaller plants are sprinkled around such as variegated Solomon’s Seal and Columbine doing their spring thing and they love their Black Eyed Susans! Providing the backdrop for all the color is a cluster of mature and new pines including Eastern Hemlocks. Yes, they have been treated for the wooley adegid, are yours? Pictured in this post is the proud owner/gardener MD.
For our third winner we will travel to the other side of our peninsula to 2201 Woodmere Lane. This beautiful corner hillside property close to the river includes a lovely home that blends will within the property and the woods behind it. A variety of well-maintained trees provides front coverage. It also includes flower beds which are gathering up a head of steam to brighten the property throughout the summer. Don’t miss the garden art in the courtyard and pieces hanging under the soffits adding a fantastic extra touch.
Congratulations to these winners. The entire neighborhood looks great so you are all winners!
I’ve put our crack photographer on it to get some better pics which I will post when completed. Or better yet drive by and check them out.
Note to winners, I will collect the signs the first week of May.
