Homeowners Meeting April 12 – 7PM
The March Homeowner’s Meeting was postponed and is rescheduled for Tuesday, April 12 at 7 PM at Lake Hills Church. This month’s guest speaker is Debbie Ailey from KUB. The Flint, Michigan water issues have naturally raised concerns for our own safety here in East Tennessee and Ms. Ailey will be addressing these concerns.
Announcements will include updates from the Lakemoor Hills Helpers, our emergency response group; the annual neighborhood picnic (May 21), which includes a car show and art exhibit; Alcoa Hwy update; raccoon safety; kudzu and other issues of interest. Dogwood mailbox bows will be available for $5.
There will be no mailbox flyers announcing this meeting, so if you have a neighbor who does not check the LHHA email, please encourage them to come.
Update – Neighborhood Cleanup Day – Saturday, March 19
We will meet at the church parking lot RAIN or SHINE at 9 AM. Photo op will happen as soon as we have a critical mass. A team is going to Circle Lake Park and one to Bluff Point Park. The rest of us will be assigned well traveled roads that have accumulated trash over the winter.
Keep Knoxville Beautiful has given us gloves, trash bags and trash pickers (I have 12). We will have Pizza and beverages for lunch in the church pavilion.
I have T-shirts for those of you who said they don’t have one yet. Unfortunately KKB only had medium and large shirts, sorry.
We will have bows for sale for $5. These can be placed on your mailbox or other posts.
I look forward to seeing you in the morning.
REMINDER – Neighborhood Cleanup Saturday 9 – 12.
Please come out and join us as we pick up trash, mulch and make other improvements to the neighborhood this Saturday. There is group that will be focusing on Circle Lake Park and one focusing on Bluff Point median strip in addition to others who will be picking up trash along the roads throughout the neighborhood.
If you cannot make it on Saturday, you can still participate by selecting a street and picking up the roadside trash another day. Just let me know which street you are focusing your efforts.
I need one person with a pickup truck who will drive the streets and pick up the bagged trash after the pickup is completed.
We will have pizza and drinks in the Lake Hills Church picnic shelter starting about 11:15.
We will also have pink and green bows for your mailboxes for $5.
Meet at Lake Hills Church at 9 AM Saturday morning for your assignment.

TDOT Awards Contract for Alcoa Hwy Renovation
We just learned today that TDOT has awarded the contract to Charles Blalock & Sons for the first phase of the Alcoa Hwy renovation. This contract covers the renovation from Woodson Dr. to Maloney Rd. This will impact all three entries to our neighborhood. There has been no construction schedule released at this time, but as soon as we are made aware of impacts to our subdivision, we will post them here and on the neighborhood Facebook page. Kathy Proctor is acting as the TDOT point of contact for Lakemoor Hills and will share information as soon as it comes available. We will be scheduling a special neighborhood meeting to hear directly from TDOT and the contractor in the near future about the specific impact and timeline and will let everyone know in advance so you can be sure to attend.
2016 Neighborhood Cleanup Event Scheduled
Saturday, March 19- 9 AM to Noon – lunch provided

Each year volunteers throughout the neighborhood come spend a few hours together sprucing up Lakemoor Hills before the Dogwood Arts Festival and Dogwood Trails open. Our team has picked up trash, cleaned street signs, mulched common flower beds, placed doggie waste stations and other neighborhood enhancements. We will meet in the parking lot at Lakemoor Hills Church at 9 AM to get assignments and supplies. Lunch will be provided in the picnic shelter by the church starting at 11 AM. If you want to volunteer for a specific street, area or activity then email Kathy Proctor at [email protected]. If you are not available on Saturday the 18th, you can still volunteer and perform the task earlier in the week to be part of our neighborhood effort.
A group is focusing efforts on the Circle Lake Park area to get it cleaned out and start determining the ways we can improve the space for the enjoyment of all. There will be leaf and brush removal and mulching to be done. Also there will be a group focusing on the Bluff Point median strip with cleanup and mulching.
KEEP KNOXVILLE BEAUTIFUL has again volunteered to supply trash bags, gloves, tools and will have some T-shirts available. If you have never received a T-shirt at one of our events, send Kathy your T-shirt size and you can pick up your shirt the day of the event.
ALSO – Pink and Green Mailbox Bows will be available for purchase for $5 that day.
Please join us and bring a neighbor. Meet at 9 AM at the church.
Dumping Increasing at Entry to Lakemoor Hills
Entering the subdivision yesterday I noticed that there was a large amount of debris adjacent to the parking area just west of the triangle at Alcoa Hwy. The more I thought about it the madder I got so today I went by to see if the bags of trash included identification that could tie it back to the owner. I took these photos when I realized the extent of the debris – bags of trash, a blue plastic tub and many, many quart beer bottles. When I peered into the blue tub, there was an animal leg (with hoof), and the bag closest to the tub seems to be filled with more decaying animal parts – perhaps deer (?). I cannot believe that anyone who actually lives within our neighborhood would do this and I ask all of you to be vigilant to speak out to anyone that you see contributing to this disgrace. Does anyone know if the city or county will help remove these animal parts as it certainly may be a health issue?
Lakemoor Hills Garden Club Announces New Community Gardens
The daytime garden club in our neighborhood has been working with a landscape architect to develop gardens on two pieces of Knox County Highway Dept. property within Lakemoor Hills. One is the 1/10th mile median strip along Bluff Point and the other is the circular property in the cut-de-sac at the end of Circle Lake. These two designs will be on display at the LHHA meeting on Nov. 17 at 7 PM at Lake Hills Church. The gardens are designed to be demonstration areas using plants that are native to our area and attract birds and butterflies. They also incorporate rain garden designs that will help mitigate storm water issues along certain properties. Knox County Stormwater Department has worked with us to develop the ideas and is providing some of the funding through a grant program for the plant acquisition and installation. There will be seating areas, walking paths, a small gathering area for music or storytelling, and beauty for all seasons. Development of the gardens will happen over a period of time and there will be many opportunities for neighbors to become involved. Come Tuesday night to see the designs and hear more about our plans.
