Lakemoor Hills HOA General Meeting on September 19, 2023
REMINDER: Happy Hour is THIS FRIDAY 5 PM at Legacy Park
Hey Friends!
This month we are celebrating “Neighbors Helping Neighbors”. Our recent August storms brought extensive damage to the neighborhood. Many folks volunteered their time, vehicles, equipment and efforts to assist others.
Happy Hour would like to say a huge “THANK YOU” and recognize the awesome folks who help make Lakemoor Hills the special place it is.
This month will be a POT LUCK. Happy Hour will provide appetizers and the Cocktail of the Month. Please bring a dish to share.
Head of our Emergency Response Team (ERT), Bob Proctor, will speak about the value of a “Connected Community”, the ERT, and the important contribution of everyone (ERT member or not), who helped cleanup and assist neighbors after the August storm.
See you at Happy Hour!

SEPTEMBER HAPPY HOUR – NEIGHBORS HELPING NEIGHBORS
September 15, 2023 will be the date of our next Happy Hour at Lakemoor Legacy Park & Garden. We want to celebrate those people who stepped out and helped their neighbors recover from the windstorm that blew through here in August. Our Emergency Response Team took action and many others throughout the neighborhood did the same, clearing driveways, creating passages through downed trees in the streets and moving debris. Come share your stories. Come let us recognize all of you that helped so much.
Please bring a dish to share with others and if you have an overabundance of produce from your garden, bring it and share with a neighbor or two. Bring a lawn chair. Bring your kiddos. Bring a beverage.
See you at 5 PM, September 15 at Lakemoor Legacy Park and Garden.
Important Message from the LHHA President
Knox County Engineering and Public Works has informed us that for storm brush to be picked up in LH the following needs to happen:
Anyone wanting this done MUST call the Knox County Engineering and Public Works Dept at #865-215-5800 by August, 30 to include their pickup on the list.
Any brush needs to be within 6 feet side of the road and any brush or logs can’t be over 6 feet in length.
They will only pick up brush/logs. If any trash or construction debris is included, it will not be picked up.
Brush/logs should not be near a fire hydrant or utility poles or lines.
There is not a timeline when this will be collected; but, hopefully by the end of September or a month after 8/30.
It doesn’t sound like Knox County or their contractor is going to ‘street to street’ picking up brush/logs from the storm damage. If you are not on their list, your brush/logs will probably not be collected.
Note: LHHA can’t guarantee that brush/logs will be picked up by the county, but this is what we have been told.
July Happy Hour moved to next Friday
Hey Friends… yesterday’s forecast showed a 50% chance of rain at 5 PM so the July Happy Hour was rescheduled to next Friday, July 28th. Hope to see everyone then for ice cream, hot dogs and the featured Cocktail of the Month – The Peach Bellini!
Cukes Alive!
Hey Neighbors! Please let Diane DeRopp know if you are interested in making pickles or eating about 10 pounds of perfect-sized cucumbers picked fresh this morning. Call or Text (865) 389-4718

Support for Emergency Response Team
LHHA Emergency Response Team is soliciting donations to assist and help defray costs for the individuals that assist with storm damage in LH. For many years, Ron “Gator” Garlin and Jason Blasdell have graciously volunteered their time in removing down trees and assisting getting power restored in LH. Although these two are volunteering their time, the LH Board thought it was appropriate to solicit donations to help assist in partially defraying the cost in their volunteer work.
The LHHA is an umbrella organization with the goal to make Lakemoor Hills a great place to live. Gator Garlin and Jason Blasdell have certainly been wonderful neighbors in helping LH neighbors and the LH neighborhood.
If you’d like to donate to this worthwhile cause, you can mail a check, use Venmo, or contribute on the LHHA website. Contributions will help with providing gift cards to these two neighbors to show our appreciation for all they do to help make LH a great place to live. Please see below:
Please note that your contribution is for the LHHA ERT.

Pickleball is here!
Lakemoor Hills Pickleball Pals –
With the Pickleball craze in full force and our cleaned up courts, we are creating a group of Lakemoor Hills Pickleball Pals that will meet at a designated time each week (TBD) for open play. This is a weekly event that is open to everyone of all abilities and experience. No fees. No mandatory attendance. Very casual. So stop by and check it out.
The Pickleball Pals realize a lot of you are new to this sport and we encourage you to come out and try it. We will help you along. We should have paddles to borrow until you get hooked and buy your own!
The first meeting is this Wednesday June 7th at 9 am. We will discuss what day and time is best for everyone and then play pickleball. Note – we are currently considering each Thursday at 9am for the ongoing day and time.
Lastly….the courts are all cleaned up and ready to play. A big thanks to Diane DeRopp and Cheri VanBynen for their hard work and dedication. They look great. Two of the courts are now painted with Pickleball lines.
For more information, please contact Diane DeRopp.
