REMINDER: October Happy Hour THIS FRIDAY 5 PM!

October 17, 2023 by Dawn Thomas

If you have tents/canopies please bring them! There is a possibility of rain, but we are optimistic and have an AWESOME event planned!

To help defray expenses, we are charging $5 PER PERSON for the wine event and you will be provided a wristband.

Come Hoot with the Owls at 4 PM, then get social and ready for Wine Pairing for the Holidays with Denise Gough!

Denise Gough is a recovering lawyer who, after more than 20 years practicing in the entertainment industry, retired to follow her passion for wine. For over 5 years, Denise pursued that passion as the primary educator and wine team member at Total Wine & More in Turkey Creek. She recently retired again but still pursues her love of wine, beer, and spirits through her “Drinking with Denise” page on Facebook and through private tastings, consultations, and events. She has traveled to California more than a dozen times (including working harvest at Amici Cellars) and has traveled to Italy and Bordeaux on wine tasting adventures.

Your generous financial support has made this year’s Happy Hours, and this event possible. This is the biggest event for Happy Hour to date and we need replenish the bank account. Donations are vital and greatly appreciated. Please help keep Happy Hour going for 2024 and beyond!

REMINDER: Happy Hour is THIS FRIDAY 5 PM at Legacy Park

September 10, 2023 by Dawn Thomas

Hey Friends!

This month we are celebrating “Neighbors Helping Neighbors”. Our recent August storms brought extensive damage to the neighborhood. Many folks volunteered their time, vehicles, equipment and efforts to assist others.

Happy Hour would like to say a huge “THANK YOU” and recognize the awesome folks who help make Lakemoor Hills the special place it is.

This month will be a POT LUCK. Happy Hour will provide appetizers and the Cocktail of the Month. Please bring a dish to share.

Head of our Emergency Response Team (ERT), Bob Proctor, will speak about the value of a “Connected Community”, the ERT, and the important contribution of everyone (ERT member or not), who helped cleanup and assist neighbors after the August storm.

See you at Happy Hour!

SEPTEMBER HAPPY HOUR – NEIGHBORS HELPING NEIGHBORS

August 24, 2023 by Dawn Thomas

September 15, 2023 will be the date of our next Happy Hour at Lakemoor Legacy Park & Garden. We want to celebrate those people who stepped out and helped their neighbors recover from the windstorm that blew through here in August. Our Emergency Response Team took action and many others throughout the neighborhood did the same, clearing driveways, creating passages through downed trees in the streets and moving debris. Come share your stories. Come let us recognize all of you that helped so much.

Please bring a dish to share with others and if you have an overabundance of produce from your garden, bring it and share with a neighbor or two. Bring a lawn chair. Bring your kiddos. Bring a beverage.

See you at 5 PM, September 15 at Lakemoor Legacy Park and Garden.

Important Message from the LHHA President

August 23, 2023 by Dawn Thomas

Knox County Engineering and Public Works has informed us that for storm brush to be picked up in LH the following needs to happen:

Anyone wanting this done MUST call the Knox County Engineering and Public Works Dept at #865-215-5800 by August, 30 to include their pickup on the list.

Any brush needs to be within 6 feet side of the road and any brush or logs can’t be over 6 feet in length.

They will only pick up brush/logs. If any trash or construction debris is included, it will not be picked up.

Brush/logs should not be near a fire hydrant or utility poles or lines.

There is not a timeline when this will be collected; but, hopefully by the end of September or a month after 8/30.

It doesn’t sound like Knox County or their contractor is going to ‘street to street’ picking up brush/logs from the storm damage. If you are not on their list, your brush/logs will probably not be collected.

Note: LHHA can’t guarantee that brush/logs will be picked up by the county, but this is what we have been told.

Support for Emergency Response Team

June 22, 2023 by Dawn Thomas

LHHA Emergency Response Team is soliciting donations to assist and help defray costs for the individuals that assist with storm damage in LH. For many years, Ron “Gator” Garlin and Jason Blasdell have graciously volunteered their time in removing down trees and assisting getting power restored in LH. Although these two are volunteering their time, the LH Board thought it was appropriate to solicit donations to help assist in partially defraying the cost in their volunteer work.

The LHHA is an umbrella organization with the goal to make Lakemoor Hills a great place to live. Gator Garlin and Jason Blasdell have certainly been wonderful neighbors in helping LH neighbors and the LH neighborhood.

If you’d like to donate to this worthwhile cause, you can mail a check, use Venmo, or contribute on the LHHA website. Contributions will help with providing gift cards to these two neighbors to show our appreciation for all they do to help make LH a great place to live. Please see below:

Please note that your contribution is for the LHHA ERT.
