There is no location more beautiful than Lakemoor Hills following a snowfall. I would like to build a snowman…….we will see.

From the Beautification Committee
The Beautification Committee will be meeting at my house, 2300 Lakemoor Drive, on Tuesday evening, February 24 at 7:00 p.m. Snacks and drinks provided.
Since “Beauty” is in the eye of the beholder, we will have an intense working meeting on what beautifying our neighborhood looks like, developing a strategic plan that can be implemented on an ongoing basis and secure volunteers to make it happen and keep it going. I know that all of us want to live in a natural environment with blooming flowers, trees, shrubs while maintaining a degree of neatness along our streets. We want a place of safety for ourselves and family as we walk, jog, and bike along our trails and avenues. We want to see the water, the lawns, the forests and the wonderful variety of homes free from litter and intrusive overgrowth. We want our property values to rise, for this beautiful peninsula to be a very desirable place to live and we want to create a welcoming environment for residents and guests.
If you have ideas, thoughts, a plan that addresses some of these opportunities to create a beautiful place to live, you are invited to the meeting or you can email me or call: [email protected]. 865-609-0002. All suggestions and advice are welcomed. We are on a journey and it takes all of us to make it happen! If you plan on attending our meeting, we will be respectful of your gift of time. Just let me know so an extra snack and drink can be on the table!
Let’s keep our neighborhood beautiful with our actions!
Thank you,
Sharon Gerkin
An Announcement
Our friends and also members of the Lakemoor Hills Homeowners Association, Dr. Ed and Mary Jeffries, have asked me to inform the neighborhood of the passing of Ed’s father, Glenn Edward Jeffries, Sr. His father celebrated his 100th birthday last October. The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm Tuesday, January 20 at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel followed by a funeral service.

MANY THANKS to the judges, participants and the entire neighborhood for a fun and festive celebration. We encourage everyone to drive the beautifully lit streets in the evening and enjoy the colorful displays.
From the Beautification Committee
There is a flurry of activity all over the neighborhood enjoying the fun and beauty of preparing for the Christmas season!
First some BIG THANK YOUS to various volunteers:
Volunteering to keep our doggies and walkers happy this year by replacing the baggies in our community parks on a regular basis is:
Ken Rymer: Walking Trail at Lake Hills Presbyterian Church. Clay Aalders: Maloney Road Park. David and Kristin Bianconi: Circle Lake Park and Bruce Klassen: Bluff Point Boulevard.
John Witherspoon is keeping the trash out of the triangle during the month of December.
Now to our fun Christmas season activities:
Thank you to Randy Kerns and Cyndi Klassen for hanging the beautiful red Christmas bows at all street signs and thank you Ann Graf, Judy Klassen and Kathy Proctor for making them!
As all of you know, a panel of judges will be selecting three homes that are particularly outstanding and joyful. The judges will be roaming the streets in the evening sometime between today and Thursday. In addition to this activity, Jim DeRopp, a resident on Maloney Road dead-end, gave a Joyful Christmas Street Challenge to John Haynes, a resident on Circle Lake Lane. This will be a spirited and fun contest for the most joyfully decorated street! Thanks to all those who are participating. The judges will make their decision by Friday. A Congratulations post for the winning Christmas street Challenge will be placed on the website on Friday and three signs will be placed in front of each chosen residence over the weekend. I hope everyone will drive through our beautiful neighborhood appreciating the lights, wreaths, mailbox decorations, candles, Christmas trees and marvel at the creativity all around us. It is a terrific neighborhood filled to the brim with wonderful people and natural beauty. We are fortunate to live in such a location!
This is a great time to meet a neighbor, share some cider and be happy!
Thanks to Everyone!
Sharon W. Gerkin, Chair of Beautification Committee
From the Beautification Committee
The Beautification Committee will be placing red Christmas bows (approximately 45-50 bows) on all road signs in the neighborhood next week to begin a new tradition of celebration in Lakemoor Hills. Additionally, we are encouraging all homeowners to decorate their homes with lights and greenery creating a lovely environment for our families and friends to enjoy. Four judges from the committee will be driving all the roads in the neighborhood between December 1 – 24, enjoying the many creative decorations and selecting three as “extra special.” A small sign with a Christmas bow will be placed on the front lawn of each of these residences identifying them as a Beautification Award winner residence. The signs will be displayed from the end of December through mid January.
This should be a lot of fun and we are hoping many of you participate. It will be fun driving through our beautiful park-like setting with twinkling lights and colors of the season.
Many thanks to all the individuals who are making this activity possible.
