Reminder: Membership Renewals are Due

August 27, 2022 by Kathy Proctor

Greetings neighbors,

You should have all received a letter from the Lakemoor Hills Homeowners Association leadership that included  a letter describing what the LHHA has accomplished in the past year, your membership renewal form, and information about the Lakemoor Hills Resource Council, our 501 (c)3.  About half of our members have already renewed, some online and some sent the renewals in the enclosed envelopes by mail.  September 1, 2022 is the due date for renewals.

If you want to renew online, use this link RENEW to take you to the renewal page on our website.  You may still send your renewals in by mail to Kathy Proctor, 2429 Lakemoor Dr. and your check should be written to LHHA.    You may also make a tax deductible donation to the LHRC with a separate check.  Thank you for supporting our homeowners association  and our neighborhood so generously.

August 8, 2022 by Kathy Proctor

Greetings Neighbors
Our membership renewal period has begun. Already 202 people have renewed or joined for the first time. This renewal is due September 1 and makes your membership active from September 1, 2022 to August 31, 2023.
As most of you know, with this $40 membership you will receive a 50% discount from Waste Connections on your waste removal. (which is worth more than the $40 fee!!!) The LHHA leadership is working on some other discounts for our membership also, so please consider renewing or joining for the first time.
You can mail your dues and renewal form into me in the envelope that was enclosed in your mailing or go to www.lakemoor.org and renew online (scroll to the bottom of the page).
Also enclosed in the mailing is information on the Lakemoor Hills Resource Council, which is our 501(c)3. The LHRC funds many projects in our neighborhood with your tax deductible donations, so please consider sending an extra donation for those projects.  This donation must be on a separate check or separate online transaction.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at 865-599-7783 or [email protected].  If you have lost your envelope, my address is 2429 Lakemoor Dr.

Alcoa Hwy Corridor Study

June 2, 2022 by Kathy Proctor

Attached you will find a draft copy of the Alcoa Highway Corridor Study which has been developed by staff in Knoxville / Knox County Planning.  This report is to be presented to the Planning Commission on June 9 and recommends several ways that can help improve development along this corridor.  It directly addresses the commercial corridor that is adjacent to Lakemoor Hills on the west and Martha Washington Heights on the east.  One member of the Planning Commission  is Dick Graf who is a long time resident of Lakemoor Hills.  This work may directly affect our neighborhood and can help us get the required services that we all have desired.  Please review this document at you leisure.  The Planning Commission meetings are open to the public.  For more information https://knoxplanning.org/alcoa

TDOT TRAFFIC ALERT – KNOX COUNTY

May 25, 2022 by Dawn Thomas

KNOXVILLE – Motorists traveling on East Topside Road near Alcoa Highway should be aware of upcoming road construction activities that will have an effect on traffic.
Beginning on Wednesday, June 1, the portion of East Topside Road that ties into Alcoa Highway will be closed to allow for the construction of DeArmond Spring Road. Motorists on East Topside Road trying to access Alcoa Highway will be detoured to Maryville Pike and West Governor John Sevier Highway.
DeArmond Spring Road is anticipated to be open on or before July 11, 2022, restoring access to Alcoa Highway from East Topside Road.
This schedule is contingent on favorable weather conditions. Motorists are advised to use extreme caution as workers will be present.

Appreciation Award for Natural Beauty

April 18, 2022 by Randy Kerns

Every year, during what I call our “fifth season…Dogwood Trail Season”, three homes are awarded the   .  The following are the three winners picked by our secret panel of judges (random order):

We start with 2524 Craighead Lane.  Located at the Montlake entrance to our neighborhood, this classic Lakemoor Hills home and property sets the spirit of our neighborhood.  Eye popping dogwoods along with other trees and foliage wonderfully positioned creating a woodsy but lived in feel.  Special Note – they have also recently added new plantings, also strategically placed to further increase the foliage.  A wonderful lesson to all of us to keep planting.

Now we work our way up Timberlake Dr., without falling into the sinkhole, to 3404 Timberlake Dr.  A cute and warm 1949 home, on a hillside overlooking the smoky mountains, passed down through a family who cares about this neighborhood, with amazing gardens and woods…OK what says Lakemoor Hills better than that!  The property has a dynamic blend of woodlands, groomed gardens and seating area with running water for relaxing and bird watching.  Lighting up the front of the property are mature screaming bright azaleas (some moved from other family homes) under a canopy of dogwoods.  Smaller plants are sprinkled around such as variegated Solomon’s Seal and Columbine doing their spring thing and they love their Black Eyed Susans!  Providing the backdrop for all the color is a cluster of mature and new pines including Eastern Hemlocks.  Yes, they have been treated for the wooley adegid, are yours?  Pictured in this post is the proud owner/gardener MD.

For our third winner we will travel to the other side of our peninsula to 2201 Woodmere Lane.  This beautiful corner hillside property close to the river includes a lovely home that blends will within the property and the woods behind it.  A variety of well-maintained trees provides front coverage.  It also includes flower beds which are gathering up a head of steam to brighten the property throughout the summer.  Don’t miss the garden art in the courtyard and pieces hanging under the soffits adding a fantastic extra touch.

Congratulations to these winners.  The entire neighborhood looks great so you are all winners!

I’ve put our crack photographer on it to get some better pics which I will post when completed.  Or better yet drive by and check them out.

Note to winners, I will collect the signs the first week of May.
