Design Workshop for Commercial Corridor on Alcoa Hwy.

June 10, 2019 by Kathy Proctor

On Wednesday, June 12 the EAST TENNESSEE COMMUNITY DESIGN CENTER will send out our survey to all Lakemoor Hills residents asking for their input for businesses and services that they would like to see included into the redevelopment of the commercial corridor along Alcoa Highway.
The survey will take less that 5 minutes to complete and will be used to inform the design teams that will be working at the Design Charrette on July 26 what residents will prefer to see at that location.
The email will come from EAST TENNESSEE COMMUNITY DESIGN CENTER.
Gene Burr is our contact for anyone that would like to participate in the charrette, but space is very limited.  Everyone is invited to view the outcomes from the design charrette starting at 5 PM at the North Campus of Sevier Heights Baptist Church.
I encourage everyone to voice their ideas so we can get the best ideas before the design teams on July 26.

Notebook found

June 9, 2019 by Barbara Houchin

A blue notebook full of knitting needles in plastic pouches was found by a friend this week in the middle of the road on Montlake near the Timberlake intersection. It might have fallen off the roof of a car.

If it belongs to you or you know who it might belong to, let me know and I’ll get it to you.

Thanks, Barbara Houchin

Summary of Incident on Friday May 24th

June 6, 2019 by Lakemoor Hills

Dear Neighbors:

This is a summary of what your Lakemoor Hills Homeowners Association Emergency Response Team leaders have been able to confirm about the Friday May 24 “emergency” incident occurring in our neighborhood. We have been told that the lead officer is still actively working the case. There are reports and statements that may contradict what various witnesses have said and what people have been told.  This is not unusual for reports to do this given many different statements and viewpoints provided to the police during the initial investigation.

The renter (female) of the house (2641 Lynbrulee Drive) was charged with Reckless Endangerment. She stated that she shot a gun at the intruder (male) at the rental address.  The report states that the female renter chased the intruder in her car on Montlake Drive. A resident in the neighborhood witnessed the female shooting out of her car window at the male who was eventually apprehended at 3824 Maloney Road. The male was booked on several charges such as aggravated assault, vandalism, evading arrest, unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm and intent to go armed dangerous felony, theft, and simple possession of a controlled substance.  He is to appear in court on June 6.

As a result of this incident (thankfully no one was hurt) we now recognize the need for a “quick notice alarm” neighborhood system for any emergency or suspicious situation.  We have identified a system which will allow for immediate notices going out to 1) our website e-mail, 2) a text message and 3) a Facebook message and will be working on rolling this out.

We are also beginning negotiations for the best contract pricing on additional cameras at the other two entrances whenever the Alcoa Highway project is completed.

We have also been in touch with the Knox County Sheriff’s Office to establish more details of the investigation.

In the coming weeks, we will advise you of whatever progress is made. In the meantime, your ideas and/or participation will be appreciated. If you see a need to have a community meeting at the church, please e-mail us at [email protected] and we will set it up.

Police activity in the neighborhood

May 24, 2019 by Barbara Houchin

A number of Lakemoor residents are concerned about police activity in the neighborhood. John Haynes just spoke with the County Sheriff’s office who advised to stay indoors and lock your doors. They could not comment on anything else at this time. There is a discussion on the Facebook group page as well.

Blalock Petitioning City to Annex Lynbrulee Property

May 22, 2019 by Kathy Proctor

FOR YOUR INFORMATION – Request to the city to annex property on Lynbrulee in Lakemoor Hills. B S & J Enterprises is affiliated with Blalock Construction.

The owners of the three properties to be annexed requested to be inside the city, and all three have adjacent properties already inside the city limits.
In South Knox County, B S & J Enterprises is seeking annexation for property at the corner of Montlake Drive and Lynbrulee Lane. The company owns adjacent property that fronts Alcoa Highway.
In West Knox County between Rocky Hill and Lakeshore Park, the Sisters of Mercy have asked that their convent be annexed. A portion of the property fronting Northshore Drive is in the city, but the bulk of the land is outside. Sister Anna Marie McGuan wrote to the city that the sisters are concerned about fire and police protection, as well as building permits and other bureaucratic matters. (As a tax-exempt religious institution, the convent doesn’t have to worry about paying city property taxes.)
Farther west on Cogdill Drive, the Epperly Family Partnership is requesting annexation for a commercial parcel near Interstate 40. Like the other annexation applicants, the partnership owns an adjacent parcel that is already inside the city limits.
A public hearing to discuss the plans of service and the annexations will occur at 11:30 a.m. on June 12 in the Small Assembly Room of the City County Building. If approved, the annexation resolution will be heard at City Council on June 18 and July 2.

Need your buckets or gator tree bags

May 3, 2019 by Bill Stoess

We planted 33 new trees in circle lake park (LLP&GACL). The trees will need frequent water for the next 2 years. If you have tree bags we can borrow or if you can give us 5 gallon buckets we can convert for watering it would be a great help. Please bring the to the picnic on Saturday. Just put them into the old red Jeep truck in the church parking lot.
