If you haven’t noticed the No U-Turn sign has been installed at the Alcoa Hwy/Montlake entrance, I noticed it last Friday. Big thanks to everyone that helped make it happen.

Invite to Classic Car Show at HOA Picnic (from Bruce Klassen)

March 31, 2014 by Ashley Maynor

Antique / Classic Car Show

Show Us Your Ride

Along with all the fun activities taking place at this years Lakemoor Hills HOA picnic on May 17th, we would also like to have a Car Show. Anything 20 years or older OR unique can participate.

Rumor has it that there are a number of antique, classic, sports, muscle, or otherwise unusual vehicles in our neighborhood. I am sure that a number of us are “into” cars whatever their vintage, and that it would be really fun to see them and learn about their history and why their owner has kept them after so many years.

We will be able to park on the East lawn of the Lake Hills Presbyterian Church, in front of the tennis courts, (if it stays dry) and have space to view them all “up close”.

We won’t be judging, so you won’t have to have it in concours condition (unless you keep it that way anyway). If you have printed details of your “baby”, it could be put in the windshield for all to review.

If you or a friend who has such a vehicle is interested, please call me, Bruce Klassen, at 240-3317 or email me at [email protected]

More details to follow on the Picnic and activities in early May.

Thanks in advance for your interest.

Complete Streets

February 25, 2014 by Theresa Pepin

There is a workshop coming up this week that will be of interest to LHHA members concerned about safely walking, biking and running in our neighborhood:

City Council Schedules Workshop on “Complete Streets”: Knoxville City Council will hold a workshop at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, February 27, in the Main Assembly Room of the City County Building, to explore the concept of “complete streets.”   Caroline Cooley and Monika Miller from the group “Bike Walk Knoxville” (http://bwknox.org/) will explain “complete streets” and offer their views on why Knoxville would benefit from having a Complete Streets ordinance.   In a nutshell, Complete Streets policies require that street projects are designed to accommodate all users, including drivers, pedestrians, transit users, bicyclists, and people of all ages and abilities. Councilman Mark Campen requested this workshop.   City Council typically sets aside time at the end of every workshop to hear citizen views on the topic of the workshop.

Bike/Walk Knoxville is a relatively new organization in our metropolitan area that may also be of interest. See http://us6.campaign-archive2.com/?u=bf7aa6533987617f921eda254&id=64297086cb&e=b70d50218d
