Get your Pecans for the Holidays!
This year, in addition to the form you may have received in your mailbox, you can order them through our neighborhood site!
The Lakemoor Hills Garden Club’s annual pecan sale is easy as pie again this year. Place your order before mid-October and your new-crop pecans will be delivered to your home before Thanksgiving. A garden club member will call or e-mail you to arrange the most convenient delivery time.
These are mammoth whole new-crop Georgia pecan halves for only $12 per pound (+1$ for online purchases). Pieces are also available. Remember, proceeds from the pecan sale are used to beautify the neighborhood’s public garden areas. If you have questions call Fran Thomforde at 621-2418 or e-mail [email protected].

Homeowners Meeting on Tuesday, 7 PM Lake Hills Church
Each of you should have received notice of the homeowners meeting that is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 20 at 7 PM at Lake Hills Church. We will hold an election for the 2016-17 board of directors and discuss a number of issues that affect our neighborhood. If you have not renewed or joined the LHHA, you may turn in your 2016-17 dues ($25) at that time. That will make you eligible for the discounted waste management fee offered through WCI to our organization. Please send a representative from your household.
New Waste Collections Benefit for LHHA Members
The Lakemoor Hills Homeowners Association has negotiated a member benefit for LHHA members that can dramatically reduce their waste collection fees. Any member of LHHA will be able to subscribe to Waste Connections Inc. to receive trash pickup at $14.10/ mo. or trash and recycle pickup at $18.70/ mo. for the next 2 years. Any household who is a current WCI customer will be automatically moved to the lower rate in their next billing cycle. Any new LHHA member may subscribe and receive this low rate.
WCI is the company that doe the trash pickup on Thursdays and recycle pickup on Tuesdays in our neighborhood. They will also pick up furniture, appliances and yard waste that is bagged, bundled or boxed.
Come to the homeowners meeting on Tuesday, September 20 at 7 PM to learn more about this moneysaving opportunity.
Yard Work Help Needed
Moved to this wonderful neighborhood 1 1/2 ago and removed the over-grown 70’s foundation planting. Finally time to re-plant!!, Had unexpected neck surgery this week so I need some help with the landscaping. Anyone know some who who be available for a half day 9-19 or 9-20 for half day of hole digging? Please respond via email to [email protected] to let me know how much you’d charge by the hour for approximately 4 hours of “outdoor gym” workout! Looking for either a student looking to pick up some pocket cash or a yard or handy man (or woman).
How exciting to have three beautifully-refurbished tennis courts at Lake Hills Presbyterian Church now ready for action! Thanks again to everyone who supported this project and joined us for our “ribbon-cutting” on Sunday! A special thanks to Dr. James McTyre, our minister, who cut the ribbon and welcomed everyone to enjoy this wonderful facility. Steve, Anne Marie and Annika Rasmussen were the first to try out the courts and gave them a “thumbs-up”! Kara Hudgens took some great photos which are posted on Facebook. Now it’s time to “play ball’!
Thanks again,
Diane de Ropp
It’s time to celebrate!
Our tennis court refurbishment project at Lake Hills Presbyterian Church will be completed this week and everyone is invited to our “ribbon-cutting” celebration on Sunday, August 28th at 5:00 at the courts. A total of $20, 085.50 was raised and Lake Hills Church contributed 25% of the total cost of the project, so we were able to straighten and paint the fences as well as resurface the courts! A huge thanks to the members of the Lakemoor Hills Resource Council for their invaluable assistance in handling all the tax-deductible contributions and to Jim de Ropp, Penny Mitchell and Stuart Worden for heading up the fund-raising campaign. Flo Curtis, Sue Humble, Cindy McLaughlin and Kathy Unger were also a great help as members of the project committee. Jim de Ropp deserves a special thanks for all the time and effort he has put into this project. We were so fortunate to have an individual with his dedication and expertise. Of course, thanks to the support of the LHHA, the Lake Hills Tennis League, Lake Hills Church and so many of you in our community that gave generously to support this project. We can now be proud of our beautiful “new” courts! We look forward to seeing you this Sunday for light refreshments and the opportunity to visit with neighbors at this joyous celebration!
