Brush Pickup Along Dogwood Trails is Next Week (March 8)

Brush Pickup Along Dogwood Trails is Next Week (March 8)

March 2, 2021 by Kathy Proctor

As a courtesy to Dogwood Arts, the city will have a crew on the Lakemoor Hills Trail for brush pick up the week of March 8th. There will be ONE PICK UP ONLY for this area and brush should be at the street prior to March 8th. Please do not call the city for pick up prior to or following this date.
Please be aware that when hiring a tree contractor for removal, the contractor is responsible for removing the brush. This is a City Ordinance for the entire City. The City WILL NOT pick up these trees.

The trails were greatly appreciated last year by the many people who enjoyed getting out to experience the beauty of our area during a challenging time. Thank you for your efforts in keeping your trail blooming!

Thank you!

Beautification Committee – Subject: English Ivy Removal

February 27, 2021 by Randy Kerns

While Kudzu is the infamous “Vine that ate the South,” English Ivy is his nasty little brother. As the years tick by, Lakemoor Hills is suffering more and more from unchecked English Ivy growth on our beloved trees. This evergreen perennial vine can grow up to 90 feet with proper support. The vines smother and weigh down your tress. Oh and it is unsightly too.We encourage you to cut these vines to stop the growth and then maintain. It’s easy and rewarding work. Now is the time before spring foliage growth kicks in making some tree harder to access. I included a link from UT AG Extension for further info.

SPECIAL NOTE – DO NOT pull the vines from the tree. This will damage the bark creating other problems for the tree.

PERSONAL NOTE – I have been spending an hour here and there cutting even hiking into the woods around me cutting on other property. Simply cut at the bottom of the trunk separating the vine at the ground. I then pull the vine up from the ground leaving the vines on the tree alone. It takes a awhile for the vine to die on the tree…it eventually will and flake off. It’s tempting to pull even when dead but please don’t.

December 18, 2020 by Randy Kerns

Our first neighborhood voting for your favorite decorated homes.
Top three
2211 Manor

So who gets the third sign?….we figure Charlie Brown always has it rough so we put the award sign there! We will bring it to Lakemoor after Christmas.
The following are the other homes that received votes. Great Job! There are many more than these that decorated making our neighborhood festive.
They all don’t have to be dramatic – A candle in the window is enough to say Merry Christmas to your fellow neighbors.
PEACE & JOY LAKEMOOR
3803 Maloney
3725 Maloney
3811 Maloney
3301 Timberlake
3515 Blow
3704 Maloney
