Recycle your old computer equipment!
Recycle your old computer equipment!
Don’t forget – Bring your old electronic equipment to be recycled tonight or tomorrow!
I’ll be at the Happy Hour this afternoon (September 15) from 5:00 – 6:30 and will also collect on September 16th at Circle Lake Park from 4 – 5 PM. If neither of those dates or times work, let me know and I’ll find a time to pick it up at your house. Please note: I have a small pickup truck and will only be able to collect desktop or small computer equipment.
I’ll be taking the recycle equipment to eCycle on Monday afternoon.
Please read the FAQ’s on items they will and won’t take:
Q: What items do you accept for recycle?
A: eCycle accepts and recycles most electronics including computers, laptops, servers, network equipment, APC’s/UPS, batteries, telecom equipment, printers, scanners, unopened toner, audio/visual equipment, home electronics, cell phones, cable and wire, microwaves and ovens
.

A: We do not accept televisions, CRT monitors, light bulbs, fluorescent bulbs, glass, media tapes and VCR tapes, hazardous, flammable, radioactive, corrosive items, or large appliances such as refrigerators or dishwashers. We are also unable to pickup large floor model copiers at this time.

SEPTEMBER HAPPY HOUR – NEIGHBORS HELPING NEIGHBORS
September 15, 2023 will be the date of our next Happy Hour at Lakemoor Legacy Park & Garden. We want to celebrate those people who stepped out and helped their neighbors recover from the windstorm that blew through here in August. Our Emergency Response Team took action and many others throughout the neighborhood did the same, clearing driveways, creating passages through downed trees in the streets and moving debris. Come share your stories. Come let us recognize all of you that helped so much.
Please bring a dish to share with others and if you have an overabundance of produce from your garden, bring it and share with a neighbor or two. Bring a lawn chair. Bring your kiddos. Bring a beverage.
See you at 5 PM, September 15 at Lakemoor Legacy Park and Garden.
Important Message from the LHHA President
Knox County Engineering and Public Works has informed us that for storm brush to be picked up in LH the following needs to happen:
Anyone wanting this done MUST call the Knox County Engineering and Public Works Dept at #865-215-5800 by August, 30 to include their pickup on the list.
Any brush needs to be within 6 feet side of the road and any brush or logs can’t be over 6 feet in length.
They will only pick up brush/logs. If any trash or construction debris is included, it will not be picked up.
Brush/logs should not be near a fire hydrant or utility poles or lines.
There is not a timeline when this will be collected; but, hopefully by the end of September or a month after 8/30.
It doesn’t sound like Knox County or their contractor is going to ‘street to street’ picking up brush/logs from the storm damage. If you are not on their list, your brush/logs will probably not be collected.
Note: LHHA can’t guarantee that brush/logs will be picked up by the county, but this is what we have been told.
New Contract with Waste Connections
Greetings Lakemoor Hills Residents
Recently a number of neighbors noticed a dramatic increase in their Waste Connections fees. We reached out to Waste Connections and realized that our contract from 2016 had expired. We renegotiated the contract with WCI and have secured the discount again for our LHHA members.
The discounted rates for our members are $52.50 per quarter for trash or $88.50 per quarter for trash & recycle pickup. The non-discounted rate for trash & recycle is close to $130 per quarter. So the LHHA members are still seeing a substantial savings.
As we go through this transition, please check your next billing. If it is not the rates that are listed above, you are to contact Customer Service at WCI (865-522-8161 and select option 2). You can speak to a customer service agent who can adjust your bill.
IF you are not yet a member of the homeowners association, you can receive the discount as soon as you join. Just go to lakemoor.org and select “HOA Member Dues and Renewals”.

Support for Emergency Response Team
LHHA Emergency Response Team is soliciting donations to assist and help defray costs for the individuals that assist with storm damage in LH. For many years, Ron “Gator” Garlin and Jason Blasdell have graciously volunteered their time in removing down trees and assisting getting power restored in LH. Although these two are volunteering their time, the LH Board thought it was appropriate to solicit donations to help assist in partially defraying the cost in their volunteer work.
The LHHA is an umbrella organization with the goal to make Lakemoor Hills a great place to live. Gator Garlin and Jason Blasdell have certainly been wonderful neighbors in helping LH neighbors and the LH neighborhood.
If you’d like to donate to this worthwhile cause, you can mail a check, use Venmo, or contribute on the LHHA website. Contributions will help with providing gift cards to these two neighbors to show our appreciation for all they do to help make LH a great place to live. Please see below:
Please note that your contribution is for the LHHA ERT.
