LHHA Neighborhood Cleanup Day – Saturday, March 24 (9-11 AM)
LHHA Neighborhood Cleanup Day – Saturday, March 24 (9-11 AM)
The Beautification Committee is excited to announce that it is time again for our Spring Neighborhood Cleanup Day, this Saturday, March 24 at 9 AM. We schedule this event each year right before the Dogwood Trails open to the public (this year trails open March 31). We will meet in the church parking lot at 9 AM to pick up supplies (trash bags, gloves, etc.) and then head out to our assigned street or job. Many people will be picking up trash along all the roads in the neighborhood. We also have teams that shine street signs; clean signs and doggie waste stations of mildew; spread mulch on common properties; sell Dogwood mailbox bows; pick up filled bags of trash and deliver to the waste station; and someone who prepares lunch for everyone afterwards.
Please join us Saturday for a little light work and then some pizza at the church pavilion by the tennis courts. You will meet some great neighbors and really do a wonderful thing to help Lakemoor Hills be beautiful.
If you have a certain job that you are interested in doing, or a street that you will commit to pick up the trash, please email Kathy Proctor [email protected] or come to the LHHA meeting on Tuesday night to sign up. Here are a few of our previous cleanup volunteers. If you have safety vests, please wear them.

LHHA Membership Meeting – Tuesday, March 20 at 7 PM
Please join us for our Spring LHHA meeting at Lake Hills Church at 7 PM. This month we will have a guest, Stephanie Welch, who represents those of us who are city residents on the Knoxville City Council. (Carson Dailey, our Knox County Commissioner, was not able to attend. He will be joining us at our picnic on May 5). We will have updates on all the initiatives that are underway and then open the meeting to hear from the members about issues of concern or interest. We hope you can help us as we develop the LHHA Board’s priorities for next year. The nominating chair will present the slate of new board member nominees. If you have someone that you would like to propose for a leadership position, you can do so at this time. I look forward to seeing many of you tomorrow night.

Tree Stump Grinding
FYI: Paul Hughes from Maryville (865-279-5285), ground 14 stumps in our yard on Saturday. He & a coworker ground the stumps & distributed the chips into the remaining holes & the surrounding areas. I don’t believe he has the capacity to haul the debris away, which was not a problem in our case.
He was thorough & efficient, & the price was reasonable.
New Roads = New Names
There is a possibility that there will be an opportunity to name the new roads that will be built as part of the Alcoa Hwy expansion. There will be a small new “feeder road” on the east of the highway and a much more extensive one on the west side of the highway. Do we as a neighborhood want to be involved in selecting a name for this/ these roads? I’d love to hear some comments here and I’ll bring up this issue at the next meeting of the LHHA on March 20 at 7 PM at Lake Hills Church. If we think it is a good idea, we can form a small group and come up with some great ideas. Or we can let TDOT name the roads…..and we know how creative they are.
See you March 20 at Lake Hills Church – 7 PM
Dogwoods Trails Opening March 31
LAWN DEBRIS PICKUP Neighbors, Spring is just around the corner (actually it is already here in some of your yards!). Each year the City of Knoxville in order to support the Dogwood Arts Festival will pick up limbs and yard debris from the homes that border a Dogwood Trail. Many of the streets in our neighborhood are on the Lakemoor Hills Trail. You know this because there is a fading pink dashed line painted on the street. So if your house is located on the Dogwood Trail you can take advantage of this once a year pickup.
Please drag your limbs and yard debris adjacent to the asphalt on your property. They do not pick up debris from empty lots. We have not received a schedule yet for the pickup, but you should begin moving those limbs now. We expect that they will pick up sometime during the week of March 25 as the trails open Easter weekend.
BOWS The lovely pink and green mailbox bows will be available later this month at the Lakemoor Hills Garden Club meeting (March 15) LHHA homeowners meeting (March 20), and at the Neighborhood Cleanup Day (March 24). The bows will be $5. All proceeds will go towards enhancing the public areas in our neighborhood. You can decorate your mailbox whether you are on the Dogwood Trail or not, as we have many visitors to our lovely neighborhood during the month that the trails are open.
Thank you for helping make our neighborhood a place of beauty!

Free Floating Yellow Kayak
good morning…this morning Laura Hutson who lives across from the church saw a free floating yellow kayak out on the river. She feels by now it might be by Maxie’s. She didn’t have a boat to retrieve it but wants the owner to know so you can get it .

Need someone to stay with elderly woman
My friend needs someone to sit with her mother for 3 weeks (5-6 days each week) while my friend works. It could possibly be a little longer. If you know someone who might be interested, please email me at [email protected] or call/text me at 865-405-3810. I can then give you all the details and answer any questions you might have.
Thank you!
