Looking for a person who can weed our woods

We are looking for someone who could spray/weed 6 acres of wooded property that we own. We are not looking to do landscaping, but instead keeping the woods in their natural state and keeping them clear of certain plants, such as poison ivy, English ivy, raspberry-like bushes, multi-flora rose, kudzu, honeysuckle, and similar invasive plants. We would appreciate it if any one could recommend a reliable person or company that could periodically do this job for us.

Today is the opening day for the Dogwood Trail and the neighborhood looks beautiful! “Hat’s Off” to all of you for helping Mother Nature look her best with weeding, mulching, feeding, trimming, raking and planting. Everyone has done an outstanding job placing the welcome mat out for visitors and each other.

The Beautification Committee would like to recognize the three residences who have been selected for this year’s Appreciation for Natural Beauty. A sign designating this selection has been placed in their front yard and will remain for two weeks. They are:

Phyllis Walker and Mark Gately.   3512 Bluff Point

Fred and Fran Thomforde.              3616 Circle Lake

Charlie and Geri Mulligan.               3617 Blow Drive

Homeowners Meeting April 12 – 7PM

The March Homeowner’s Meeting was postponed and is rescheduled for Tuesday, April 12 at 7 PM at Lake Hills Church.    This month’s guest speaker is Debbie Ailey from KUB. The Flint, Michigan water issues have naturally raised concerns for our own safety here in East Tennessee and Ms. Ailey will be addressing these concerns.

Announcements will include updates from the Lakemoor Hills Helpers, our emergency response group; the annual neighborhood picnic (May 21), which includes a car show and art exhibit; Alcoa Hwy update; raccoon safety; kudzu and other issues of interest.  Dogwood mailbox bows will be available for $5.

There will be no mailbox flyers announcing this meeting, so if you have a neighbor who does not check the LHHA email, please encourage them to come.

Kudzu Task Force Update and Review

The Kudzu Task Force is currently in a discovery mode to determine what we can do to curtail the invasion of Kudzu in our peninsula.

The next step is a representative from V&V Land Management & Resource Recovery LLC will be coming out to review the Kudzu issue within Lakemoor Hills.  Anyone interested in attending is welcome.  Our task force will be meeting at the church parking lot (at the Montlake entrance) Monday April 11, 2016 at 2:00pm.  This location will allow us to park safely and walk down Montlake to review some of the bad areas.  We may also travel to other areas.

V&V has performed landscape clearing services to a resident in our community along with proposing Kudzu removal at another resident.

Update on the Dogwood Trail Debris Pickup

There has been a lot of questions and concern about the debris pickup.  We now have more details on the process as follows:

  1. Pickups will only occur on the designated Dogwood Trail roads. That means if you live on a road without a Pink Line there will not be a pickup.  Please do not place and leave debris on non-designated Dogwood Trail roadsides or vacant lots.
  2.  The pickups will occur between April 1st and April 15th. There will “probably” be 2 pickups.  Sorry they do not completely commit to that.
  3.  Debris needed to be on the roadside before April 1st.
  4.  Both sides of the street will not necessarily be picked up at the same time.
  5.  The Dogwood Trail doesn’t officially open until April 15th. Please be patient they will get to your debris
  6.  Please bear-in-mind that this is a free service from the county.

Next year we will compile all the details concerning this process and post it in advance.
