Water Problems (Randy Fishman)

March 10, 2017 by Barbara Houchin

From Randy Fishman:

Yesterday, our water pressure seemed low, so we called KUB. The fellow came out and said our water pressure was high. When we came home yesterday, the water was completely off.

My wife called KUB but the fellow who answered the call sounded exasperated and said it was our problem. When the plumber came this morning he found a huge amount of sand blocking the pressure valve. We had to replace the valve but more sand coming up through the line could ruin the new one.

Apparently, when KUB replaced the main water line, they released a large amount of sand into the water. Despite KUB’s claim that they are not responsible, it seems pretty clear that they are.

Has anyone else had similar problems recently?

Lakemoor Hills Neighborhood Cleanup Day – March 25

March 6, 2017 by Kathy Proctor

Greetings Volunteers

I want to invite you to again participate in our 2017 Neighborhood Cleanup Day.  This year we are partnering with Keep Knoxville Beautiful as part of larger effort, South Knoxville Cleanup, http://www.keepknoxvillebeautiful.org/upcoming/2017/3/25/south-knoxville-cleanup  Volunteers from all over South Knoxville are working in teams to beautify different areas in South Knoxville that need attention.  All participants are welcome to attend a lunch at noon at Sam Duff Memorial Park – 4060 Chapman Hwy with other South Knoxville volunteers.
For those that prefer to stay in the neighborhood and feast on pizza at the Lake Hills Church pavilion, we will again provide lunch to our attendees about 11:30 AM.
We are also partnering with Ijams Nature Center and supporting their annual River Rescue project.  River Rescue is dedicated to cleaning up trash that has accumulated along the river bottom before TVA raiseS the river each year to its full pool.  This year their event is scheduled on April 1, but we are going to count our efforts on March 25.  Ijams has offered us garbage bags, gloves and T-shirts.
So if you plan to participate this year and want a T-shirt, please email me back with your name and preferred T-shirt size.  I need this information by March 18.

Here are the activities that we will do on March 25.   Please tell me where you would like to volunteer.
  1. Clean street signs – Diane DeRopp & John Witherspoon lead the effort
  2. Spread Mulch – Bluff Point, Circle Lake, Lakecrest, others?
  3. Pick up trash along road – Please tell me what road
  4. Pick up the pizza, purchase plates, napkins, drinks, cups
  5. Go pick up a load of mulch in a pickup truck
If you can do a little or a lot, we appreciate your help!  Thank you for helping to keep Lakemoor Hills a beautiful neighborhood!!

After the storm

March 1, 2017 by Ron ( Gator) Garlin

Rode my area and a few more after the storm. Montlake Dr and surrounding streets seemed pretty good .No damage that I can see. The house on the corner by the church looks like they had a big branch brake off a tree in the front.Doesn’t seem to be causing any problems other than needing cleaned up

info on power outage in the neighborhood

March 1, 2017 by Sharon Gerkin

This is information from C.L. Overman, KUB Chair for LHHA:

The power has been out in Lakemoor Hills since, approximately, 1:00 pm this afternoon. 350+ homes are without power but service is being restored gradually.   KUB hopes to have all power resumed by 4:00 pm this afternoon but the continued storms and winds could cause additional disruption. If anyone sees a downed power pole, limb on lines, etc., please call 524-2911 and go through the automated response system. At the end, select #7, give your account number or phone number listed on your account, and submit the information you have. This will help KUB target the problem areas assisting them to restore power quickly.

Submitted by Sharon Gerkin for C.L. Overman, who is without power………..

2 Lost Dogs

February 27, 2017 by Ann Burns

I came down Montlake about 15 minutes ago and there were 2 medium to large dogs running around the road.  They belong to somebody because they both had on collars and tags.  One looked solid black and the other mostly black with a little brown.  They were running around looking for their home.  I stopped, but didn’t get out of the car and they came running up to my car.  They were in the area about mid-way on Montlake.  I hope they are already home, but if they aren’t maybe this will help them get home.
