Knox County Property Appraisal

Knox County Property Appraisal

April 10, 2017 by Sharon Gerkin

David and I recently received the Knox County Residential Property Appraisal for our home on Lakemoor. We were shocked as the new appraisal is 27% higher  than the previous one.  Evidently a few others in our neighborhood have also received a shocking appraisal. Could this be from a real estate market that is heating up or is our county seeking to pad their bank account at our expense?

I would be interested in hearing from other residents: happy with appraisal, appraisal is same as last time, or think the increase is too dramatic?

Thank you,

Sharon Gerkin

Eyeglasses found

April 5, 2017 by Sharon Gerkin

Someone left a pair of women’s readers following the Homeowner’s meeting last month. When the hail began and folks began checking cars and worrying about the storm, they were left on the registration table. They are +2.00. If you are missing a pair, just give me a call: Sharon Gerkin, 609-0002.

Trees – Hemlock and Ash Health

April 5, 2017 by Randy Kerns

This month is all about the Dogwoods…However that doesn’t mean we should ignore all the other wonderful trees in Lakemoor Hills. Specifically I am writing about serious issues with two species – first HEMLOCKS – I have seen signs of the Wooly Adelgid in a couple of hemlocks in our neighborhood (I am notifying the homeowner.) Side note-we hiked the Smokies last weekend and saw many Hemlocks being attacked (very sad). Secondly the Emerald Ash Bore is in Tenn. It is hard to identify. If you have either of these species of trees I would suggest getting an expert to examine/treat your trees.  If infested you will loose these trees without treatment.  Our garden club had an expert speak to us that can treat them (I use him) however I don’t want to use this site to advertise companies.  I am sure there are many experts in Knoxville you can contact.  If you would like the contact info for the one I use please e-mail me at [email protected]

Dogwood Trail – Debris Pickup

March 22, 2017 by Randy Kerns

The Dogwood Festival Organization will be picking up yard debris on Monday March 27th.  At the moment there will only be one pickup.  The Festival starts on Friday March 31st.

IMPORTANT – the debris pickup will ONLY occur on streets designated as part of the Dogwood Trail.  Those streets are identified with a Pink Stripe painted on them.  If your home is not on the Dogwood Trail please DO NOT put debris out on the roadside.  I attached a MAP that shows the trail streets in Pink.  Black streets will not receive a pickup.
