Mulch

Mulch

February 22, 2017 by Barbara Houchin

Nancy Jones has posed a question about mulch.  To my knowledge, there is no group rate for mulch but I’m sure Nancy (and maybe others) would appreciate any suggestions.

From: Nancy Jones <[email protected]>
Subject: Mulch

Message Body:
Is there a nursery that works with the Homeowners Associaton to provide a group rate for mulch? If not, where does the best place seem to be to purchase large amounts of mulch? We are starting to get our yard ‘beautified”!
Thank you,
Nancy J

PLEASE SLOW DOWN

February 16, 2017 by Mary Cartwright

In response to your concerns, a group of neighbors is working to make our neighborhood safer. You will likely see an increased presence of the Knox County Sheriff’s Department in the next few weeks. If you live at the far side of the neighborhood, it adds only two minutes to go the speed limit. It’s worth it.

Fire Protection in Lakemoor Hills

February 14, 2017 by Kathy Proctor

Most residents of Lakemoor Hills are not City of Knoxville residents, do not pay city taxes, and therefore do NOT have fire protection unless they subscribe to the service that Rural Metro offers.  At our last homeowners’ meeting we learned that Rural Metro will respond to a fire in our neighborhood whether that family has subscribed to fire protection or not.  If you are a subscriber, the visit is free.  If you do not subscribe, the fee is $1,500 per truck per hour.  Multiple trucks are typically dispatched.  The average cost charged to the homeowner to put out a fire is $8,000.  If you do not subscribe to fire protection, then it is time to do it.  Don’t gamble on never having a visit from the fire department.  That is a costly mistake.  Here is a document that will give you information on their service.rural metro

Alcoa Hwy: February 7, 2017

February 13, 2017 by Lakemoor Hills

Contract CNQ029 Alcoa Highway SR 115 (US 129)

February 7, 2017 Project Update

The Maloney Road roundabout on the east side of Alcoa Highway (near Sevier Heights Baptist Church) is open to traffic. Traffic can access the roundabout on 3 of 4 legs (the 4th being the leg on the Maloney Road where the bridge over Alcoa Hwy. will be constructed). Traffic was allowed access on Friday, February 3, 2017.

Excavation and fill activities are taking place on both sides of Alcoa Hwy. Trucks can be seen hauling material from cut slopes to fill areas on the east side between Barber Hill Rd. and Mount Vernon Rd. as well as on the west side between the large cut slope and Montlake Dr. Drainage structures are also being installed in these areas as well as near Woodson Drive.

Welcoming Committee

January 31, 2017 by Geri Mulligan

The Welcoming Committee of LHHA is “welcoming” new members to help visit the newest members to our neighborhood. It’s easy, it’s fun and you are the perfect one to do it! So please come to our meeting this Thursday, February 2nd at 7:00 PM in the Courtyard Room at the church. We would love to have you. Spring is a time that many people move in so we will be happy to have a few more visitors. If you would like to do this, please join us.
Thanks,
Geri

BEAUTIFICATION IDEA – New Flowering Trees & Shrubs

January 29, 2017 by Kathy Proctor

Blount County Soil Conservation is holding their 2017 Annual Fundraiser and offering bare root trees and shrubs at very low prices.  If your dogwood trees are over 20 years old, they may be more susceptible to disease and insects.  Lakemoor Hills will be the featured trail again (when our entry gets completed) for the Dogwood Arts Festival.  This is an excellent opportunity to get some new flowering plants started in your yard.  The deadline is February 17, 2017 to place an order.

I think it’s working now…

January 27, 2017 by David Couch

Back in November I had attempted to set up an autopost to Facebook feature on the site. It turns out there was a bug that was preventing the site from posting to our private group. If I’ve done this correctly – this post will show up on Facebook AND the site.

~Your friendly neighborhood web guy, David

P.S. This IS a test.

Please say “NO” to Speeding and “YES” to Safety on our Neighborhood Streets

January 26, 2017 by Sharon Gerkin

At the recent LHHA HOA meeting, we discussed speeding and possible actions, past, present and future. The Knox Co traffic engineer has submitted work orders for some additional signs and is waiting for feedback from above on other striping, rumble strips etc. The Board has created a Task Force which will hopefully be up and running shortly. We would like to have additional volunteers for the task force especially with an engineering, law enforcement and education background. In the meantime, please respect your neighbors and drive the speed limit….
Thanks
C.L. Overman. Chair of Traffic Safety
363-2663

The streets are narrow with little to no shoulder available. Those who live on Montlake and Maloney must retrieve their mail with speeding cars going by forcing some to jump for a ditch. It is tempting to reach a high speed on the long, straight areas of both roads but let’s try to relax and maintain the 30 mph limit.

The LHHA supports and is actively campaigning for Safety and Driving the posted Speed Limits!
