Lakemoor Hills Garden Club – Caladium Sale

Lakemoor Hills Garden Club – Caladium Sale

April 9, 2018 by Randy Kerns

Another great offer from the Lakemoor Hills Garden Club – They are selling Caladiums at a fantastic price.  Caladiums are easy to grow in landscape beds as well as containers. They prefer partial shade and will grow best where protected from harsh sunlight and wind.  All proceeds go to the further beautification of our neighborhood.   Please see attached for more details and ordering.

Neighborhood Cleanup Day – Thank you to ALL!!!

March 26, 2018 by Kathy Proctor

WOW!!  You guys are great!  We had 33 volunteers to help with Neighborhood Cleanup Day over the two-day weekend.  Some brave souls tackled the tasks on Saturday despite the ugly weather and the rest of you showed up on Sunday, or even completed your commitment before the weekend arrived.  Thank you so much!

Now some of you must have really loved the gloves, safety vests and pickers that Keep Knoxville Beautiful LOANED to us.  But if you are finished with them, please stuff them in my mailbox/ paper box or come up the hill and leave on my front porch (2429 Lakemoor.).  I hope to return them to KKB on Tuesday.

If anyone still needs a pink & green bow for their mailbox, please see me or Ann Graf.  They are $5.  They have proven to hold up well in the rain so far!

Thank you again and now we are ready to put on the show for the Dogwood Arts Festival.  Trails open March 31.

Delivered by Bunny

March 26, 2018 by Bill Stoess

A Sip & Snoop gift card is the perfect Easter treat for a neighbor who is a bit too old for a bunny basket and a bit too young for an orchid corsage. We’re thrilled to give you a chance to take a water taxi to see the Zitzman house (pictured), the Farr house, and the Worden house on Sunday afternoon, October 7, from two until five. Two more houses you can visit only by land will be announced soon.

To purchase a Sip & Snoop gift card, e-mail: [email protected], with recipient name address, phone number, and e-mail address. Your check for $40 per card goes to 4000 Maloney Road, 37920. Happy Easter.

Hollyhocks for sale

March 23, 2018 by Bill Stoess

A couple neighbors asked me where to find Hollyhocks like those in front of the serpentine wall at Westwood Manor on Kingston Pike. Did some research and was able to locate them. I will be picking some up at a nursery next week.  If you would like some let me know soon.  They will be $10.00 for a gallon container.  Profits (if any) will go to the Sip & Snoop project.  Email [email protected] and tell me how many you want.  No need to pay until I deliver them to you.

Rain Date for Neighborhood Cleanup

March 23, 2018 by Kathy Proctor

Volunteers

It currently looks like we might be having significant amounts of rain on Saturday.  IF it is RAINING/ SNOWING at 8:45 AM on Saturday, March 24 then we will postpone the Neighborhood Cleanup until Sunday, March 25 at 2 PM.   We will still meet in the church parking lot at 2 PM on Sunday, pick up your supplies (garbage bags, gloves, pickers & safety vests) and get our assignments.  We will have Pink & Green Mailbox Bows for sale ($5) available also.  All funds go towards beautification of our neighborhood.

See you Saturday or Sunday!

LHHA Neighborhood Cleanup Day – Saturday, March 24 (9-11 AM)

March 19, 2018 by Kathy Proctor

The Beautification Committee is excited to announce that it is time again for our Spring Neighborhood Cleanup Day, this Saturday, March 24 at 9 AM.  We schedule this event each year right before the Dogwood Trails open to the public (this year trails open  March 31).  We will meet in the church parking lot at 9 AM to pick up supplies (trash bags, gloves, etc.) and then head out to our assigned street or job.  Many people will be picking up trash along all the roads in the neighborhood.  We also have teams that shine street signs; clean signs and doggie waste stations of mildew; spread mulch on common properties; sell Dogwood mailbox bows; pick up filled bags of trash and deliver to the waste station; and someone who prepares lunch for everyone afterwards.

Please join us Saturday for a little light work and then some pizza at the church pavilion by the tennis courts.  You will meet some great neighbors and really do a wonderful thing to help Lakemoor Hills be beautiful.

If you have a certain job that you are interested in doing, or a street that you will commit to pick up the trash, please email Kathy Proctor [email protected] or come to the LHHA meeting on Tuesday night to sign up.  Here are a few of our previous cleanup volunteers.  If you have safety vests, please wear them.

LHHA Membership Meeting – Tuesday, March 20 at 7 PM

March 19, 2018 by Kathy Proctor

Please join us for our Spring LHHA meeting at Lake Hills Church at 7 PM.  This month we will have a guest, Stephanie Welch, who represents those of us who are city residents on the Knoxville City Council.  (Carson Dailey, our Knox County Commissioner, was not able to attend. He will be joining us at our picnic on May 5).  We will have updates on all the initiatives that are underway and then open the meeting to hear from the members about issues of concern or interest.  We hope you can help us as we develop the LHHA Board’s priorities for next year.  The nominating chair will present the slate of new board member nominees.  If you have someone that you would like to propose for a leadership position, you can do so at this time.  I look forward to seeing many of you tomorrow night.

Tree Stump Grinding

March 13, 2018 by Debby Corlew

FYI: Paul Hughes from Maryville (865-279-5285), ground 14 stumps in our yard on Saturday. He & a coworker ground the stumps & distributed the chips into the remaining holes & the surrounding areas. I don’t believe he has the capacity to haul the debris away, which was not a problem in our case.

He was thorough & efficient, & the price was reasonable.
